It's a short hike of about four tenths of a mile to a family-friendly falls, but the trail is steep and rocky. Kids younger than four or five will need some extra help navigating some sections. In low water years like 2013, you can walk around the whole falls through the debris underneath; in high water years, there is a slightly more challenging 15-foot scramble to get up next to the left of the falls.
GPS reception is not great in this narrow side canyon, and I remember walking in circles trying to find the original cache. I averaged the coords over 100 times, but they are still only OK. The accuracy read 25 ft when I started averaging, dipped down to 16.8 ft., but then went back up to 18. The cache is a short distance from the trail on easy terrain and the hint should help.
July 2015 - We returned and my GPS would not get better than 50-60 ft accuracy, and I was reading 200 ft from the cache. I guess the alignment of the satellites makes a big difference. So I'm giving a little more info here. Look for a shelf--composed of little rocks, but basically flat--to the east of the trail where you can see a round piece of metal sticking out from the rocks. Then use the hint to get closer.
