Phnom Santuk, also called Phnom Preah Bat Choan Tuk, is situated 17 kilometers south of Kampong Thom provincial town in Santuk district. The site include four mountains: Phnom Srah Kmao, Phnom Kraper, Phnom Champa and Phnom Santuk. Phnom Santuk is the most sacred mountain in Kampong Thom Province with the summit offering picturesque views of the whole countryside as far as Tonle Sap and the mountains near Kampong Chhnang. At the summit is a Buddhist pagoda known as Wat Kirichaomchong Phnom Santuk.
This cache is situated at the summit of Phnom Santuk on the other side of the pagoda near the white shelter containing Preah Bat Choan Tuk (a.k.a the Buddha’s footprint) from which this mountain gets its name. The cache is a small clear round container and is under a small rock in the crack between two big rocks. See spoiler image and BYOP.
Admission is $2 USD for foreign visitors and 1000 KHR for Khmer.
Be careful of muggles!!! Khmer watch foreigners like a hawk and will take anything they think is of value. As you approach make sure that no one is following or watching you. Children often follow foreigners (a.k.a. barang) to offer them a guided tour or sell small gifts.
Please no swaps or trackables. Due to dangerous animals in Cambodia (e.g. snakes, spiders and scorpions) either use a glove or stick when feeling around for the cache.
