A shout out to Two Night Owls on being the first to find along with Pee& Kay... Begin the hike at the Rock Canyon trail head. There is a picnic pavillion, restrooms with flush toilets, drinking fountains and shade trees. The hike is easy, less than a mile from the trail head. This is also a good spot to connect with the Bonneville Shoreline Trail.
As you head east up into the canyon, enjoy the breathtaking views of the jagged rock cliffs that stretch almost straight up from the canyon floor. Watch for cotton tail bunnies, dragonflies, rock climbers, and interesting rock formations. The canister is an old army green metal ammo can and is partially exposed. I'm leaving my travel bug too. It's inside it's own plastic bag.
