History
Upon arrival you will find yourself standing in front of the former Hawkesdale State School No. 776.
The building was constructed in 1926 on Austin street (former school grounds), enrolment number were 32 for the following year. Prior to this the school lessons were conducted in a bluestone building officially opened in 1866.
In 1962 the first Hawkesdale Scout Group was formed, in 1963 they purchased this building and moved it to it's present location.
Prior to the building been moved to this site, the Bank Of Victoria operated on this site from 1906 to 1938. In 1939 it become the Commercial Bank Of Sydney until it's doors closed in 1942.
Today the building and site is still used by the Hawkesdale Scouts.
