La chiesa occupa una piccola altura nell’abitato di Sauris di Sotto, su uno spazio un tempo adibito a cimitero. Fu eretto nel sec XIV, rifatto nel sec. XV e rimaneggiato nel sec. XVIII.
Il Santuario S. Osvaldo, meta nei secoli di numerosi pellegrinaggi, deve la sua fama alla reliquia di Sant’Osvaldo, un pollice della mano del santo che venne per secoli venerato per aver salvato nel 1348 l’intera comunità di Sauris da una epidemia di peste.
Giunsero pellegrini fino da Venezia. All’interno dell’edificio un pregevole altare a sportelli, opera di Nicolò da Brunico del 1524. Nella parte centrale vi sono le statue dei Ss. Osvaldo, SS.Pietro e Paolo; nell’interno degli sportelli in bassorilievo, scene dell’Annunciazione, Visitazione, Natività e Fuga in Egitto.
Nella predella il gruppo della Pietà e a sportelli chiusi si notano, in bassorilievo, figure di Santi.
Sul retro dell’ancona un magnifico trittico, con pittura raffigurante Gesù che esce dal sepolcro e mostra le stigmate e la Madonna e S. Giovanni, opera di Michele Parth.
Tra gli altari laterali spicca quello ligneo della Madonna della Cintura, opera del 1730 di Eugenio Manzani con una bella pala della metà del Settecento. Giovanni Francesco Comuzzo ha intagliato l’altro bell'altare posto nella navata destra (1658) con pala con S. Osvaldo che è di epoca più recente.
La cache è di dimensioni micro e all'interno troverete solo il logbook perciò portatevi una penna e buona caccia!
The church occupies a small hill in the village of Sauris di Sotto, on a space once used as a cemetery. It was built in the XIV century, rebuilt in sec. Fifteenth century and remodeled in the XVIII sec.
The Sanctuary S. Osvaldo, a destination for pilgrims for centuries, owes its fame to the relic of St. Oswald, a thumb saint who was revered for centuries for saving in 1348 the entire community of Sauris by an epidemic of plague.
Pilgrims came up from Venice. Inside the building, a fine altar with doors, the work of Nicholas of Brunico 1524. In the central part there are statues of St. Oswald, SS.Pietro and Paul, in the interior of the branches in bas-relief scenes of the Annunciation, Visitation, Nativity and Flight into Egypt.
On the platform group of the Pietà and doors closed can be seen in bas-relief figures of saints.
On the back of a magnificent triptych altar-piece, with painting depicting Jesus coming out of the tomb and shows the stigmata and the Madonna and St. John, by Michele Parth.
Among the side altars of Our Lady of the wooden stands Belt, work from 1730 by Eugenio Manzani with a beautiful altarpiece of the mid-eighteenth century. Giovanni Francesco Comuzzo another beautiful carved altar placed in the right aisle (1658) with shovel with S. Osvaldo which is more recent.
The cache is micro-sized and inside you will find only the logbook so bring a pen and happy caching!
