Basic Geocaching Traditional Cache

I wanted to hide here a cache for a long time. There is a new generation of geocachers in Jerusalem so this it my Last and fun filled cache in Jerusalem. The cache I located inside the abounded village of Lifta you are looking for a regular sized cache, get ready for an adventure. 

About Lifta

Lifta was an Arab village on the outskirts of Jerusalem. The population fled during the Arab-Jewish hostilities of 1947/48 and the efforts to relieve the Siege of Jerusalem (1948). The village, which is mainly intact, is located on a hillside between the western entrance to Jerusalem and the Romema neighborhood. In 2012, plans to rebuild the village as an upscale neighborhood were rejected by the Jerusalem District Court. For more information you can read in Wikipedia.

About the Cache soundings

The cache is only part of the fun. Lifta is a maze of old and stylish buildings that you can explore. At the entrance to the Lifta there is a big swimming pool you can cool yourself in (very crowded during the weekends by religious people from the nearby neighborhood). There is also a tunnel you can enter (bring a flashlight) right next to the pool which is very cool.

And now for the Cache

The cache is a "regular" sized cache that is packed with goods. It started with a book, DVD, Video tape, Tiara, Ball, containers, some keys, flashlight, toys etc. Needles to say there is also a pen. The cache is hidden in the outside wall of one of the extra houses, behind a rock just a few meters (about 1-3min walk) from the Blue trail. Please try to hide it as you found it so it will survive.

קצת על ליפתא

ליפתא היה כפר ערבי במבואותיה המערביים של ירושלים. תושבי הכפר אשר היו עוינים להתיישבות היהודית נמלטו מהכפר בזמן מלחמת יום-העצמאות(1948).  הכפר ממוקם מצפון לכביש המוביל ליפו ותל אביב, במדרון היורד לנחל שורק, בגובה ממוצע של כ-700 מטר מעל פני הים. בשנות ה-80 של המאה ה-20 אחרי שתוכניות לבנות על חורבות הכבר נכשלו, הוכרז המקום כשמורת טבע. עוד פרטים בויקיפדיה

קצת על הסביבה

המטמון הוא רק חלק מהכיף. ליפתא הוא כפר המכיל חורבות יפיפיות, מבוך של שרידים של מבנים מרשימים. בכניסה לכפר יש ניקבה ענקית (עין נפתוח), שמאוד מפתה בימי הקיץ החמים (בסופי השבוע היא עמוסה בתושבים הדתיים מהשכונה הסמוכה). מעל בריכה ישנה ניקבה שניתן להיכנס וללכת בתוכה (תביאו פנס).

ועכשיו כמה מילים על המטמון

מכוון שיש דור חדש של מטמונאים בירושלים זהו סוג של מטמון פרידה. מדובר במטמון לא קטן, בגודל "רגיל" שמלא בכל טוב: ספר, תקליטור, קלטת וידאו, כדור, מפתחות, מיכלים, פנס ועוד דברים טובים. מיותר לציין שיש בו גם עט. המטמון מוחבא בקיר החיצוני של אחד הבתים (מאחורי אבן) במרחק קצר מהשביל הכחול (1-3 דקות הליכה). בבקשה תחביאו את המטמון היטב לאחר שתמצאו אותו כדי שישרוד כמה שיותר.
