Geocache Description:

A geocache along the 5k Soren Sorenson Trail on Mount Revelstoke.

Western white pines (Pinus monticola) grow in this area and drop their long cones along the sides of the trail. Look for a pile of them on top of a large rock. Western white pine was much more common in this area before 1930, when the white pine blister rust reached the interior of British Columbia. The disease, which is thought to have originated in Asia, eventually kills its host. Local First Nations peoples used the inner bark of white bark pines to built their canoes.

This geocache and the others placed by this owner were authorized by Parks Canada, following established policies and procedures (link). Please read the guidelines and support responsible geocaching in our National Parks.
