When I was out this way several years ago this was the original roadway. After the Dixon Dam was made this road get washed out and covered in water every June when the water level is raised.
On the road near the bottom of the hill is a sign...no parking past this point. As with any unmaintained road use at you own risk. If you do chance taking a car down, there is an area by the cache to turn around.
The ammo can is located close to a old road. We have parked near the bottom several times and kayaked around the mouth of the river in the marsh area.
