Lake Mangalia is very similar to an estuary and extends from Mangalia harbour to the west, beyond Limanu village, and most of it is passable.
Mangalia shipyard (on the south end of the harbour) requires access to the railway network, and to minimize the length of the track, a tall artificial embankment and this bridge were built.
Yachting has prospered in recent years and this place offers a very safe haven for small sailing boats.

Lacul Mangalia, foarte similar unui estuar, se intinde din portul Mangalia pana dincolo de satul Limanu, fiind navigabil in buna parte.
Santierul naval Mangalia are nevoie de acces la calea ferata, astfel incat, pentru a minimiza ocolul facut, a fost ridicat un istm artificial si un pod peste lac, pe traseul din oras pana in santierul de pe malul sudic al lacului.
Totodata, aici s-a dezvoltat si yachting-ul de agrement, fiind un loc foarte ferit pentru ambarcatiunile de tonaj redus.
