Savannas Kids Cache Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

JL_HSTRE: Picked up ammo can. The hinges are shot but I will pass it on to another cacher to hopefully salvage it for future use. No idea how long that will take and the kids swag is all gone anyway so listing is finished.

Geocache Description:

You are looking for an easy to find container with kid-friendly swag located at Savannas Preserve State Park. This cache is located on the Glass Lizard Trail (white blaze).

Park access fee is $3/vehicle (or a FL State Parks Annual Pass). The park is open 8AM to sunset every day. The Education Center is open 9AM-5PM Thursday-Monday.

Savannas Preserve State Park is a 5400 acre park home to the largest freshwater marsh system on Florida's southeast coast. The park extends from Jensen Beach Blvd in the south to Midway Road in the north (the savannas north of Midway Road are a St Lucie County Recreation Area). The first recorded use of the term "savanna" to describe the area was in the late 1830s during the Second Seminole War by Lt. Col. Benjamin Pierce (namesake of Fort Pierce and brother of later president Franklin Pierce). Land acquisition for the park began in 1977 with management by the State Parks system beginning in 1993.

Cache placement approved by park management.

This cache container is recycled from one of the early (but now archived) caches hidden in this state park.

Please be sure to close the lid completely!
