Located in the Lady Slipper Reserve, it is an easy, though uphill, hike, mostly on a tarred road. It can also be done on MTB
A R20 day permit is required to walk to this cache. Permits are available from CycloPro or from the Cape Pine, Longmore, office. Alternatively, post a "Write note" log to this cache site before you visit to say that you have read and agree to the MTO Genral Rules and Guidelines and I'll make good with Cape Pine.
If anyone asks you to show the permit, refer them to this message with your geocaching handle - but only if you did, in fact, already post the note.
Park at the parking waypoint and walk. Do not park in front of the locked gate. This is a Telkom service road and may be required at any time for maintenance vehicals to get to the relay stations on the mountain peak. The road is narrow and you will find it difficult to park on the side of the road with enough space for passing vehicals, and also it is difficult to turn the car around - just not worth the 200m walk.
The key for the gate is not easy to obtain, so enjoy the hike!
When this cache, the first in the "ant" series, was placed I asked finders to tell what they thought was the reason for this cache's name. The best explanation, while not actually an explanation, that did hint at being correct, was by iPajero who described this as an 'antsome cache. Thanks for good tries by Spesbona and Mixs. Now that "Way to ANTs" (GC574GW) has been published, the real meaning of the name is revealed. This is about as far as you can walk West before the large Telkom ANTenna tower is out of sight.
