The Grasshopper Point fire lookout was built in 1933. It blew over during its first winter but was re-erected the following year. The Forest Service deactivated it in 1964 and burned it down in 1967. There are no views from Grasshopper Point, but in July you'll see lupine in bloom. If you follow an old road a bit north of the lookout site you'll see a beargrass meadow.

You'll drive Road 4860 to get to the trailhead. The first three miles are paved and the rest is gravel. There are a few potholes, dips, and bumps but the road is passable in a low-clearance vehicle.
I've provided trailhead coordinates although the trail might be hard to spot. It heads up into the woods just before you see a road sign that says "NO OHV BEYOND THIS POINT." The trail is pretty clear and easy to follow, although it does peter out before you reach GZ. Going cross-country from there to the lookout site isn't difficult because underbrush is minimal.
When you're done you might consider heading out to find the Rocky Butte cache (GC4NBA8) where you can see the remains of an old crow's nest lookout. The trail that heads out there is right across the road from the trail to Grasshopper Point.
Update: The actual lookout site is about 150 feet south of the cache. Thanks to 3rd Times the Charm for pointing that out!
