This is a fascinating area that takes you on an adventure of all kinds, starting with the drive up. Most of the way the roads are very good, but the last few KM's you will need a 4WD with good clearance ...the road is often covered in snow until July, and is quite rough in a few spots. Once you reach Cabin Lake there is a rustic campground by picturesque Cabin Lake. The hike to Stoyama Mountain Peak, as well as the hike to the Conair plane crash, make this a great area to visit. The area has wildlife, fields of alpine flowers, and stunning vistas ...bring a camera! The cache is a large camoed lock n lock originally hidden for the Bermuda Triangle Project.
You’ll find a well defined trail to the Conair crash site which starts on the far side of the lake. If you find the “Gold Country Stoyama” cache you can’t miss the trail.
Please remember that you are in bear country ...be Bear Aware hiking and camping!
