Senzill caché que us portarà a la plaça Catalunya, és una zona on hi solen haver-hi geomuggles, a causa del parc que hi ha, el quiosc, la gran esplanada per jugar, i sobretot la guarderia. És una plaça que té el nom del barri de la zona(és el Barri Plaça Catalunya), per això, té com a motiu, les festes del barri i celebracions de la ciutat. Ultimamemt, la plaça està reformada, amb terrasses (de bars o restaurants),escenaris, o inclús, s’ha construit un parc a sota de la plaça que té com a curiosa característica l’encobriment de metall que té. Als anys 60-70, no era una plaça si no un gran ‘’pàrking’’, i inclòs , s’havien fet curses de motocros.

El parc, de dimensions molt modestes, es troba situat al barri de la Plaça Catalunya, un barri manresà molt dens i mancat de zones verdes. Amb la configuració topogràfica plantejada i, especialment, amb la ubicació dels elements més característics del parc (els umbracles i les pèrgoles) es pretén fragmentar visualment el parc i singularitzar-lo. Aquesta fragmentació pretén convertir l’indret en un lloc complex i ric espacialment -generant la percepció que el parc és més extens del que físicament és- tot mantenint la unitat formal del conjunt.
La configuració topogràfica, mitjançant plataformes que defineixen un recorregut principal en ziga-zaga, i la ubicació dels umbracles defineixen una successió de llocs i espais. Uns, els situats sota els umbracles. Els altres, els delimitats pels desnivells topogràfics i pels volums d’umbracles i pèrgoles.
Els umbracles i les pèrgoles consisteixen en unes estructures tubulars d’acer galvanitzat recobertes per malles metàl.liques l’objectiu de les quals és conduir i donar forma a la vegetació.
Els umbracles són constituïts per un doble embolcall de malles metàl.liques. El primer embolcall pretén delimitar geomètricament les copes dels arbres que s’han plantat al seu interior. D’aquesta manera es pretén que la massa d’arbres que conté adopti una imatge de paral.lelepípede com si es tractés d’un topiari. El segon embolcall, paral.lel al primer per l’exterior, ha de ser colonitzat parcialment per plantes enfiladisses que li han de confegir un aspecte de mur vegetal en part del seu volum.
En el cas de les pèrgoles, que formalitzen tant l’accés principal al parc com els espais de connexió entre les diferents plataformes, es pretén que s’hi estenguin plantes enfiladisses almenys en part dels seus paraments.
Les malles de les estructures dels umbracles i les pèrgoles, i la vegetació que s’hi associa, pretenen actuar de filtres espacials, amb colors i graus de transparència diversos en els diferents punts i èpoques de l’any. Això ha de permetre obtenir profunditats canviants als espais del parc al llarg de les diferents estacions.
De nit, els umbracles i les pèrgoles esdevenen grans pàmpols que il.luminen el parc.

[This modestly-sized park is located in a dense neighborhood of the Catalan city of Manresa, lacking in greenery. With the proposed topographic configuration, and especially with the location of the most characteristic park structures (the umbraculums and pergolas), the goal is to split visually the park and singularize the intervention with these structures. This fragmentation aims to turn the park into a rich and complex place, spatially-generating the perception that the park is larger than it actually is while maintaining the formal unity of the whole.
The sequence of spaces and places are defined by the location of the umbraculums (shade structures), as well as a topographic configuration that uses platforms that define a zigzag path. Some gathering spaces are located under the umbraculums. Others are defined by topographic gradients and the volume of the umbraculums and pergolas.
The umbraculums and pergolas consist of tubular structures of galvanized steel coated in metal mesh to gives shape to the vegetation growing on it.
The umbraculums consist of dual-metal mesh wrap. The first envelope seeks to define geometrically the tops of trees that have been planted inside. Thus it is intended that the mass of trees containing parallelepipedic look as if they form a topiary. The second envelope, parallel to the first on the outside, will be partially colonized by climbing plants that will give a look of green living wall to a part of the volume.
With the pergolas -that mark the main entrance to the park and the spaces connecting different platforms- the aim is to extend climbing plants at least partially up the structures.
The mesh structures of the umbraculums and pergolas, along with the vegetation associated with them, try to act as spatial filters, using colors and degrees of transparency in several different places and times of the year. This will give varying depths to park areas during different seasons.
At night, the umbraculums and pergolas become glowing lamps that illuminate the park].
