Buttes-Amirault

Le premier acadien à vivre dans ce village était Joseph Moulaison. On sait qu'il était né dans la région de Pubnico et c'était ici qu'il a épousé Jeanne Comeau en 1753. Les buttes Amirault sont restées annexées à l'île de Surette jusqu'en 1901 quand c'est devenu une paroisse avec la construction de son église actuelle de Sainte-Famille. Le premier prêtre des buttes Amirault était le père Émile Hamelin qui est resté là jusqu'à sa mort en 1928.

Amirault's Hill

The first Acadian to live in this village was Joseph Moulaison. It is known that he was born in the region of Pubnico and it was here that he married Jeanne Comeau in 1753.Buttes Amirault remained annexed to Surette's Island until 1901 when it became a parish with the construction of its present Sainte-Famille church. The first priest of the Buttes Amirault was Father Émile Hamelin who remained there until his death in 1928.
