From the cache you can see the Sutton Coldfield transmitter, a UHF and BBC National FM main station that serves the majority of the West Midlands. On December 17, 1949, the transmitter became the first television transmitter to broadcast outside London and the Home Counties, bringing BBC Television to viewers outside of the south-east of England for the first time. Today, the transmitter provides coverage to approximately seven million people and is a familiar sight to those living in the area.
If you look down the hill, you may see Lichfield cathedral on a clear day.
Please park in the layby near to the cache. This road is generally quiet but cars do drive fast down here so please take care, especially if Geokids are around.
Well done to owenNORBHWM on FTF, Banjo55 on STF and Madden_88 & T.witsey on joint TTF.
