This cache has been archived.

Psychoticjesters: It looks like the cineplex has finally met it's end after all this time, demolished, with plans to build more cramped puzzle box housing units.

Geocache Description:

The large 4-domed building you see before you was once home to South San Francisco/San Bruno's very own big-screen movie theatre. For anyone who remembers this location back when it was open, there are likely some fond, or maybe not so fond memories associated with it. For me, my very first job was working at the consession stand here back when I was in highschool!

Back in its prime the theatre located here was very popular and always full. Originally having 8 different rooms to watch films in it later added 2 more screens to make 10 in total so there were always a wide selection of films showing. In 2002 the same chain opened up another theatre twice as large in Daly City with 20 screens, and plenty of food establishments nearby as well. The growing poularity of the new theatre caused ticket sales at this smaller location to dwindle. Shortly thereafter problems began to surface for this location. Many people began to complain about the theatres poor outdated sound quality, uncomfortable seating, leaks in the roof, ect. Towards the end of it's life a rat infestation surfaced inside the theatre. Rumors and stories spread quickly, from claims of rats running across rafters above to one man claiming to get bit on the hand while scratching his leg, business at this location dwindled considerably until the establishment closed down by 2008. Since then the chain has re-opened it's new location attached to Tanforan Mall on April 18th, 2008. Leaving this old building behind, unused, but still intact.
Since being shut down idea's of companies like Q-Zar laser tag moving into the building have been mentioned on the theatres still existing billboard, in July of 2013 Brentwood Bowl received planning commission approval to move in, though that never seemed to pan out. For more than 10 years this old buildings doors have stayed shut tight. So until something new moves in the building remains empty, so parking should be plentiful.

Cache is big enough to hold small trade items.
