A series of seven caches in and around Gallangad Glen based on the Rainbow Song, with a chance to find an eighth bonus cache by testing your musical knowledge.
Proper walking gear is essential as some of the caches have a high terrain rating.
You can reach the starting point by car or bike via the back roads from Croftamie or from Balloch, or walk or cycle in from Finnich Toll near Killearn, although you will have to cross some locked gates.
This is a four mile loop which will take you up the east side of the glen from the parking spot on Merkins (Rd). and back down the west side via the sheepfold to Merkins where it is a short walk back along to the starting point.
Four of the caches are accessable off farm tracks but the others require scrambles into the glen and moorland crossings.
If you are doing these caches solo, please let someone know where you are. The terrain within the glen is difficult and quite hazardous at some points and there is no phone signal, so please be aware.
You will experience some incredible views, and at the Green cache will be visiting a "must see" special place.
Park at N56 00.905 W004 29.412 and walk east along the road to the viewpoint sign. Go through the gate and follow the obvious path up the hill.
The Rainbow Song contains the seven colours of a rainbow, and so does this series.
Each cache container is rainbow coloured and inside you will find a few lines of a song with one word missing.
In each case the missing lyric is one of the colours of the rainbow.
Once you have sussed the missing lyric colour, you need to identify the ORIGINAL artist, and, using the table below find the co-ordinate for that colour.
The box where the Artist column and Missing Lyric Colour column coincide contains the number you need.
