The Pittsburg & Shawmut Railroad is located across the road behind the gravel parking area. It makes a giant bend here and follows the Pine Run creek near this junction of roads. It follows the road you are on in one direction and runs towards Eddyville in the other direction.
The railroad was started in the early 1900s and ran from Brockway to Freeport. It has been out of use for several years and the tracks have been removed in this area. ****For those of you familiar with the spelling of Pittsburgh, PA, you'll notice the railroad name does not contain an "h". That is because from 1891 to 1911, the US Post Office tried to standardize all town names and Pittsburgh was made to remove the "h" from it's spelling.
Congrats to M&G Cachers and Whitefeather11 for FTF.
