Geocache Description:

A SOMEWHAT EASY BUZZLE TO HELP PEOPLE TOWARDS 31 THIS MONTH.

Volunteering. It is at the root of what many of us do in our community. They volunteer time as a foster family members. Others volunteer their intellect as mentors in afterschool programs. Some volunteer in uniform to the nation, going where they are sent. Closer to home, many volunteer here in Dona Ana County as firefighters.

The Dona Ana Fire Academy is roughly 100 hours long. My class was several subsequent weekends (eight hours on Saturday and Sunday) for just over two months. There, community volunteers learned the basics of fire suppression and safety. My department has volunteers from their late teens to gentlemen in the sixties. There is a role for everyone on the fireground, from running the engine outside to carrying 80 lbs of equipment into a building if that is what you desire (though very rare). Additionally, over 80 percent of the department's calls are medical calls. With long response times from local ambulances, EMTs are always in need. They go to the scene and provide care before the arrival of the ambulance. Additionally, almost all departments will reimburse you for the EMT training once you complete it (EMT is about 130 hours in NM).

This cache crossword puzzle will allow you to learn some basic fire terms we master through training. It will also introduce you to some different classes of fires, so that you can better use that extinguisher you see all the time at work. Complete the crossword (below as a picture) and match the symbols to find the final cords. The clues are immediately below.
