NOTICE: Please read through this completely so you know what you're getting yourself into. This is no ordinary caching experience. You are doing more than just looking for clues and a log; you are going on a tour of the Water Conservancy Garden. You have been recruited as a GeoBee Scout in search of information to bring back to the hive. There are 19 clues. Each one leads you to the next and lets you explore a different part of the garden and gather all this sweet knowledge.
THIS CACHE EXPERIENCE IS AWESOME BECAUSE THIS GARDEN IS AWESOME!
PLAN ON 2 HOURS OR MORE TO COMPLETE this cache. You will need TWEEZERS, LOTS of WATER, umbrella for "walking shade". Maybe snacks and picnic lunch....and if you have a hard time reading small print, bring reading glasses or a magnifying glass.
Bathrooms available outside and in building. Clues come in a variety of containers. They are hidden in a playfully tricky way, but are not terribly difficult to find if you use your geosense antenna.< You will need to come during park hours: Summer Hours May 1 to September 30 Monday - Saturday: 8am to 8pm Winter Hours October 1 to April 30 Monday - Friday: 8am to 5pm Not recommended during heat of day during summer; I suggest you come before noon or after 5 unless you are okay with high temperatures. WHY I MADE THIS CACHE
Several years ago I discovered a wonderful public garden dedicated to educating Utah homeowners how to better manage our precious natural resource, water in their home gardens and landscapes.
The Conservancy Garden Park is not only a beautiful garden with shady trees, colorful flowers, and winding paths, it is a learning garden! Every bend of the path offers a view of a design idea and a sign offering advice on how to bring more beauty, in a practical way, to your ourdoor living space.
The purpose for this caching experience is threefold: (1) to introduce you to this lovely garden and let you enjoy some time here; (2) to give you a fun, playful geocaching journey; and (3) to share with you some of the park's wisdom on water conservation.
BE AWARE BEFORE YOU BEGIN, THIS CACHE requires a time commitment. Hard to say exactly how much because each cacher is different, but it will take about two hours, more or less. Think of it this way: Instead of running from place to place or hiking up a trail and back for a hour or more, why not come to this lovely garden park for a morning and do 19 fun little finds all in one place?! I'm hoping the uniqueness of this experience will draw you here. I'm willing to bet you'll have a great time!
WRONG WAY TO DO THIS CACHING EXPERIENCE: Hurry from stage to stage just to get to the cache. That would be a shame. Like flying all the way to New York City, getting off at the airport and saying, "Okay. I've been to New York City," and getting back on the plane.
RIGHT WAY TO DO THIS CACHING EXPERIENCE: Take your time. Plan on enjoying the journey. Bring along some cool drinks, a snack, or even pack a lunch. There's a nice place to eat here, admist shady trees, chirping birds and fragrant herb beds. There are benches everywhere to stop and rest while you open the clue containers and read the information inside. PLEASE TAKE TIME AT LEAST SOME OF THE SIGNS. You may discover an idea you can use for your home landscape! There's lots this garden has to teach you! You might find you also want to jot down the name of a certain plant or tree you like, or design idea that inspires you.
The administration and staff have been very enthusiastic and supportive of our sport by allowing us to have a cache here. If you get a chance to thank one of them, please do so. They get a kick out of having you here.
Please respect the garden and do not leave the pathways.
Please reseal the containers so the contents stay dry.
This is a public area. Always be on the lookout for muggles. While reading the clues, step away from the hiding location. Find a bench or ledge nearby to sit on to read. This way, you don't give away the location. Search and rehide using your best geostealth. Please rebundle and rehide the clues as well as or better than you found them.
At the cache, remove all the contents and take to another location to open and log. There are tables nearby that would serve nicely for this purpose.
Fun bee-themed swag. Please trade fairly. Two stamps for letterboxers, 1 is handcarved.
You're sure to enjoy yourself IF you've read the description and plan accordingly. Just don't rush through. Come when the temperature is obliging and plan on allowing enough time, and you'll enjoy the journey. Your time spent here will be well worth it! Please alert me to any problems with GZ or maintenance issues. Fly by soon, friends! You'll have a SWEET time!!!.
SPOILER ALERT: Because I want everyone to have a successful journey, the hints are a total giveaway. Do not look at them unless you get stuck. But I would rather have you look rather than give up part way through. That said, you may not sign the log unless you have found ALL the clues. To do so is, well, cheating.
