Oz Mega Committee: Its that time for the Committee to Archive the BBQ event.
We would like to thank all the 65 teams who attended and made the fun night an enjoyable time ,with good food and also a thank you to all the kids , who were on their best behaviour which was a credit.

Especially like to thank the teams who traveled long distances from Melbourne, Brisbane , Sydney and the Riverina just for the event. The event gave the Committee a great opportunity to showcase the set-up of the showground , explain many components of a MEGA event and fill positions for the 4 Sub-Committees.
We will contact all the Sub-Committee nominees over the next 4 months to streamline the next process.

A reminder to please move your " trackables " on , that were all taken off the TB table and try to get them into a cache or TB Hotel quickly for their respective owners.

The Committee has put together a video for mainly the newer teams who have never been to a MEGA event and asked what they are all about. The Media Committee will be producing this sort of thing by the end of the year.

Geocache Description:

Welcome to the OZ MEGA BBQ evening

Saturday , 14th December , 6pm

Queanbeyan Showground.

A fun night showcasing all the information for the OZ MEGA event scheduled for Easter 2016.

Access is via Glebe Avenue between the large double gates, which is the listed co-ordinates. We will have an OZ MEGA banner on the gates to make it easy. Once in, find a convenient parking spot and make your way to the seated area in the grandstand.

It will take a good 15 minutes for everybody to sign in, place your TB's on tables and find a seat.At 6.15pm when all have arrived we will begin to serve the meals and salads. Each person will receive a soft drink as well.
When everyone is seated with meals, the discussion and updates will commence from the Oz Mega Committee.We will go through all the information for the event.This will take a bit of time .

Raffles

There will be a number of raffles to be drawn throughout the evening :
  • The main raffle will be for each team present.Each team will have one ticket in the raffle. Many prizes from our Sponsors include camping blankets, hiking waterproof water bottles, sandwich makers, travel mugs, CD wallets, electric cordless kettles and much more .
  • There will also be a raffle for teams who bring "TravelBugs " dropped in to the event and placed on the table . For every two TB's you submit you will receive a raffle ticket towards many prizes.

Volunteers

After the raffles, The Oz Mega Committee will explain some of the Sub Committees and a call for volunteers for each group. You may only be on one Sub Committee. When all Sub Committees are formed we will then call for any ideas that attendees might like to suggest for the Committees consideration. Each person will identify themselves and be given a chance to suggest an idea. All ideas will be documented by Committee including names . If an idea is thought to be a great thought towards the event, we will contact you later for more information you might be able to assist with.




QUESTIONS

  1. 1. What is the cost of this BBQ event or meal going to be ?
    (A) The event is free and so are all the meals provided, plus soft drinks. These are provided by the Sponsors and Committee.
  2. Are there any costs for the raffles ?
    (A) They are all free.
  3. What if I don't live in Canberra but happen to be geocaching in the area that weekend and want to attend.
    (A) All geocachers are welcome to attend no matter what state they reside.
  4. I have booked an overseas holiday at Easter 2016 already and cant make the MEGA event. Can I still attend this event?
    (A) Yes, your most welcome.
  5. We will be away on the Sat 14th December for this event, but I am keen to be involved on a Sub Committee. Is that possible?
    (A) Yes, just send us an email after the event .
  6. All the meals for the event will be cooked by James from the Jusojara team and his scouts groups who will also control the catering at the OZ MEGA event.

    Geocoin & Travelbug Table's



    Angela of the dvixen team and others will monitor the Travel Bug table, Geocoin's, and raffles on many tables.Please bring as many TB's as you can and also your collections for display and have your swaps ready.Angela will also have her exciting stall there with plenty of those geocaching goodies available.

The event commences on Thursday 21st March , 2016 through to Easter Monday, 28th March 2016, at the Queanbeyan Showground.
