Geocache Description:

A series of critters, some real, some fantastic, which may be seen (in real life or fantasy) on a scenic trail in Redwood Regional Park.

East Ridge Trail runs for 4 miles from Skyline Gate off Skyline Road, to Pinehurst Gate off Pinehurst Road.  The trail is mostly level, going along a ridge with scenic views to the west, south and east.  This series of critter caches is not camouflaged, so they are all hidden either well off the trail, and/or in places where they are unlikely to be come upon by accident.  THis means you will have to deal with some poison oak, and some cross-country obstacles like branches in the way or old barbed wire on the ground. You do not have to do heavy duty bushwhacking to get to any of these caches: there is a fairly open route to each.  Some you may have to crawl under a tree to get or dip below some overhanging branches, but you won't need a machete.  If you think you do, try another direction of approach.  In many cases tree cover prevents good reception so use the hints.

Dogs are allowed on this and all trails in Redwood Regional Park.

Inspiration for this geocache theme comes in part from BerkeleyBOomers!
