Franz Joseph, ulterior in strada Horea. Interiorul a fost refacut in stil neoclasic spre modern.

[EN] The Jewish Synagogue is a mosaic place of worship in Cluj-Napoca. It was built between 1886-1887 in Moorish style. It is now known as the Memorial Temple of Jewish Deportees. The facade of the synagogue is a combination of traditional elements with oriental inspiration. Nagy Utca, Broad Lane, the street the synagogue was built on, was upgraded and renamed at the end of the nineteenth century to Franz Joseph Street, further on into Horea Street. It was severely damaged in 1927 and was later restored with the support of the Romanian Government. After 1940, Horthy authorities transformed the Synagogue into a storage space. After the deportation of Jews to Nazi concentration camps in 1944 the synagogue was badly damaged again due to bombing of the nearby station. The Synagogue is today dedicated to the memory of Holocaust victims. As architectural elements, the cornice is richly decorated and ends at the corners in 4 small oriental towers. The interior was rebuilt in a neoclassical to modern style.
