A single stage cache in a high Alvar Plains area.
In many areas of extreme isolation in North American, as a few adventurous soles know, there are populations of Bigfoot. A few of the locals on Drummond know about the Island population of these critters, but they are very tight lipped about the entire topic. I have spent many an evening at local watering holes (purely for investigation purposes), with my ears open, and picked up a few tidbits about a family of Sasquatchs living in these high plains. Indeed, this is a very Squatchy looking area. In the time I spent here I came real close to finding some Bigfoot tracks, as well as a few piles of Sasquatch dung. I did do a few tree knocks, and swear that a Sasquatch answered me from just back in the woods a bit. Then it let it out with a howl, imitating a coyote, which they are known to do. It is almost hard to believe that the only Bigfoot sightings so far reported to the BFRO (bfro.net) in Chippewa County have come from Brimley and the Soo. It’s only a matter of time! Seekers of this cache might want to do a few tree knocks in the area, and keep you camera at the ready, as you never know.
The most direct route here is from Glen Cove, up and along the famous Marblehead Highway. Some portions of that road are real good, and other portions are pretty rough (to say the least). High clearance 4-wheel drive vehicles get through, most in one piece, but a slow speed is recommended. I do not personally own such a vehicle, so I park near the Glen Cove beach area. I hiked from there to place this cache. I have also biked this road before, but it takes a bit more than strictly a road bike. On such a ride you can expect to ride quickly through some stretches, VERY carefully through others, and just plain push the darn thing through a few areas. There is likely to be a fair number of large water holes along the route as well.
You will be looking for a 30 cal ammo can, full of fair trade items. To prevent the possibility of damage by critters, please do not leave food items of any type. Liquids are subject to freezing in the winter, breaking their containers, and thus creating a mess within the Cache. Therefore, please do not leave liquids of any type in this Cache.
