Geocache Description:

This is a multi-stage projection cache in the Maxton Plains area. All distances are Statue, and bearings are True. The difficulty should be less than the rating if you posses the necessary GPS skills. If you do not, then it will be a 6-Star, and you will need to do your homework before you tackle this one.

I placed this type of cache, in this location, for 2 reasons. The first was to provide a fun experience in using your GPS to do a cache, which is different than some have done before. The second was to provide a combination walking/driving tour through this plains area. As you precede you will see signs where a few totally thoughtless people have driven into these plains before. You don’t have to be a Rocket Scientist to realize that this area is fragile. Even though I have not seen any signs prohibiting driving off-road, I would have to think that the DNR would bust you just the same. PLEASE - Park along the roadside and walk into the various areas of this cache. It is not that far from the road to any given stage, and the walks are good for you. As you walk to the various stages, take the time to closely study the overall environment, as well as the various micro-environments that you will encounter. You very well may see things that you have never seen before. This is a 6-stage cache. There are 5 intermediate waypoints, and the 6th stage is the cache. The intermediate waypoints are very clearly marked. At the end of your journey you will be seeking a 50 cal ammo can, full of fair trade items. To prevent the possibility of damage by critters, please do not leave food items of any type. Liquids are subject to freezing in the winter, breaking their containers, and thus creating a mess within the Cache. Therefore, please do not leave liquids of any type in this Cache.
