This semi-tidal lagoon has more than 26 different species of birds. Black swans now breed there along with Mallards, Paradise and Shell Duck, NZ Shoveler and many more nest at the side of the Lagoon. Spoonbills have been seen on the lagoon in recent years in groups of 30 or 40. There is a lovely walking track across the causeway which has been planted with NZ Natives this leads down to the beach.
The cache is a small plastic container with little room for trackables. It is important that it is put back as found and vertically otherwise it will roll away and be unreachable.
