Geocache Description:

This cache is located a short distance off a public walking trail through several blocks of a wooded area off of W. New England Ave. and S. Vineland St. in Pinebluff. Parking is available off of S. Vineland St. at an entrance to one of three trailheads that access this system of trails, which passes by an active, operating cell site and tower. Terrain may be a little tricky depending on time of year/season, but cache should be an easy find and placed out of view of muggles.

You are seeking a .50 cal ammo can stocked with goodies hidden in plain sight at the posted coordinates, but a short distance off the trail. The approach to the cache location is slightly downhill over a mostly cleared area that gets steeper closer to the cache. It's placed about 30 or so feet into a wooded area which should provide ample cover to seek and find should any muggles also happen to be out walking on the trail at the time of your visit.

The terrain rating may vary depending on the time of year and season - likely tougher with growth in the spring and summer months and less of an issue during the fall and winter time. While the town does maintain the area somewhat, it is not kept in immaculate shape year-round by any means. Please be aware of the usual Sandhills wilderness suspects while making your way to the cache - both flora and fauna. I see a lot of deer hanging out in the area here on a regular basis, but I don't think you have to worry too much about them!

This is a fairly new system of trails that was recently opened up for walking/hiking to the public by the Town of Pinebluff. They loop around and meander through this wooded area encompassing several blocks of the property owned by the town. The paths are pretty decent, but nothing fancy, just mostly cleared sandy trails like the ones you'd encounter on the game lands, so traverse accordingly. Feel free to explore, just take notice of the posted signs along the route. There are two other entrances/trailheads that access this system of trails, other than the one included as a waypoint below - one is located on W. New England Ave. at the end of S. Pine St. and the other is off of U.S. 1 which accesses the far end of the trail system.

As for the cell site, I just thought it was pretty neat when I passed by it the first time I checked out the trails. I guess you could say that we just connected on a "cellular" level and then it wasn't a very hard "cell" to convince me this area needed some new well placed regular sized caches... OK, I'm through with all that - I promise - just had to get it out of my system! I currently planning on populating this area with several more caches along the various sections of walking trails in the near future.

The cell site location nearby houses various electronic communication equipment and a cell tower owned and operated by AT&T/Cingular Wireless. Please take notice of and obey all posted signs around the cell site itself, which include no trespassing. So please, admire from afar and don't enter the fenced area surrounding the site (not sure why you'd really want to).

Now, you know I couldn't get through this cache description without saying it, so here it comes:

Can you hear me now? Good!

(And yes, I know that's a different cellular company.)
