Geocache Description:

All of the caches in this series are located at or near Taste of Nova Scotia sites. ToNS is a program that the provincial government funds to bring exceptional Nova Scotia producers and culinary craftmen to the forefront. There are so many restaurants, wineries and farm markets, that show the variety of food and drink in this province.

This cache is close to a ToNS producer from the past that's why they're X now. The town of Louisbourg has been a fishing centre since before it's founding in 1713. The fortifications that it is now famous for were placed to protect the mouth of the St. Lawrance and the French interest in the Atlantic cod industry that had been flourishing since before Columbus discovered America. Apparently, the value of salt cod fished by just the French had a value 10 times that of the fur that was being exported from Quebec City and Montreal. This producer is obviously carrying on the tradition. Don't forget to look for some of the other caches in the series.
