The cache is situated close to the edge of Strangford Lough with stunning views across the Lough towards Scrabo Tower. Strangford Lough and Lecale is a place of contrasts, from the exposed outer coast and the fast flowing “Narrows” entrance to the Lough to the calm expanses of the northern sandflats. Scrabo Tower was built on a volcanic plug above the town in 1857 as a memorial to Charles Stewart, 3rd Marquess of Londonderry who was one of the Duke of Wellington's generals during the Napoleonic Wars.
