The cache container is a historic ammo container (or "Shipping and Storage Container, Cartridge") from the historic Elwood Ordnance Plant (EOP) and its siter unit the Kankakee Ordnance Works (KOW), which began production of munitions in mid-1941, the site of which is now a restored prairie. The KISCO Company of St. Louis, Missouri constructed the ammunition box that we purchased at Midewin, the Nation's first tallgrass prairie, in northern Illinois and used for this cache. We hope you enjoy this little piece of WWII Illinois history!
Note that friendly dogs and cats do live at this home with a large yard and may come to greet you.
