This area was set aside to preserve the habitats of a variety of species besides the federally listed Oregon Silverspot Butterfly which is threatened. Coho salmon, trout, and Marbled Murrelet were also listed on the application for funding. This area will eventually become part of the Washburne State Park to be used for hiking and fishing.
At this time the area does not have established trails, however, there are two old logging roads in the area along Big Creek. The older trail to the left, not behind the gate, has berms to prevent motorized travel but is accessible with a little bushwhacking.
The cache is in a clear cut meadow about 1100 feet up with an elevation gain of 300 feet. On a clear day it is a beautiful view down to the coastline, Silverspot habitat, and Ponsler State Park.
The container is a 4X4X6 loc n loc with natural camo blending into existing surroundings.
