Geocache Description:

This cache is located next to ‘Rosewater Reserve’ officially renamed ‘Eric Sutton Reserve’ as a tribute to the late member of council Alderman Eric Sutton, who died a prisoner of war in Thailand 1943.

In 1922, a monument was placed at the reserve, and it’s a lovely area. I’ll let you discover the history of the monuments yourself!

A small black container with log book.

Currently used by the local school for sport training & events, the oval next to the cache is home to the Rosewater Football Club (Bulldogs), a club founded way back in the mid 1880’s. The reserve, also used for turf cricket, has an excellent playground, artwork mural wall, 3 on 3-basketball court, plenty of seating, covered BBQ area, easy parking and toilets and a memorial.

This cache is close to a disused railway line runs along the edge of the reserve. The nearby crossing was once home to the ‘Rosewater Railway Station’, which opened in 1916 and shut down in 1988. The station consisted of a shelter and a 2m long step-down platform. The infrastructure has since been removed and no evidence of the station is left.
