Geocache Description:

A pleasant little wander along generally firm paths through the Burnham Beeches.

This multi-cache can be done as a standalone, however it fits nicely into a circular walk when combined with a few other caches I have put out locally. I would recommend parking at Littleworth Common, at either of the two waypoints given, and walking the circuit via “Dropmore Estate”, “Dropmore View” and “Millennium” before completing this cache. Continuing along the path from the final location will bring you back to Littleworth Common for a total walk of around three and a half miles. If you are doing this cache on its’ own there is some limited parking just north of the first waypoint and the walk will be a little over two miles.

While you are in the area, there are a number of other caches locally that are worth your attention if you have not already found them.

The route of the circular walk can get muddy in winter, but should generally be fairly firm under foot. During the wet months wellies may be a good choice of footwear…

Burnham Beeches contains many rare and fragile habitats and species and is a site of special Scientific Interest (SSSI), a National Nature Reserve (NNR) and a Special Area of Conservation. The 540 acre site receives around 585,000 visitors each year, making it one of the most visited NNR’s in the UK.

To minimise damage to this beautiful area, geocaches may not be hidden in the Beeches (the searching is liable to be too disruptive). However, the site managers have very graciously agreed to allow a multi cache through the Beeches, following the established paths and tracks. Please follow the route as laid down and do not cut any corners. Dogs should be kept under close control and owners are requested to clean up behind their pets and remove bagged waste to the appropriate bins or take it home for disposal.

Although cycling is permitted in the Beeches it is restricted to the metalled tracks. The route for this cache makes use of some unmetalled paths within the Beeches and footpaths outside, so this cache is not suitable for cycling.

You will need information from all the waypoints in order to calculate the final location.

The final cache location is, N51 33.UVW W000 38.XYZ

Where:

U=A+G

V= E+J+(2*M)-B

W=L+C-R

X=F-H

Y=P-(L+K)

Z= N+H-D

There is no need to leave the footpaths at any point along this route, either to find information or to retrieve the cache

Special thanks go to JJEF and Lostninja for letting me know that they failed to find this one due to the total incompetence of the cache owner using the wrong waypoints when creating the calculations for the final location. He has now been taken outside and executed and I (his ghost) have tried to correct his error. Happy hunting folks!
