Geocache Description:

HAIL TO YOUNGATHEART1, for reaching 1000 finds!

This is a multicache to help you explore one of the newer Darke County Parks!

Fittingly, Y@h1 found her first cache, For The Birds, on 10-25-06 in a Darke County Park! She found her 1000th cache, Chief Noonday's Grave, on 7-7-13. This cache also has a connection back to Darke County! If you have done any caching in this area before, you have probably found some of her 45 hides.

As always, PLEASE replace all stages as well as or better than you found them to keep them from disappearing!

All Darke County Parks are open sunrise to sunset. Please park vehicles in designated lots and walk on marked trails. Help to protect the Parks by taking only memories and leaving only footprints. Please do not collect plants, animals or artifacts of any kind. Pets may be walked on a leash. Fishing is permitted with a state license. Biking is restricted to paved trails only.

Turkeyfoot Preserve

Turkeyfoot Preserve is located southwest of Greenville with convenient access and parking located just off OH-121 on Bishop Road. The preserve is the result of the Natural Resources Conservation Service Wetlands Reserve Program with additional funding through the Clean Ohio Conservation Fund. Darke County Parks acquired this preserve in 2001 with the intent to maintain the wetlands, re-establish prairie and provide for public access and passive recreation. Currently, a Trail Head Kiosk has been installed. A gravel serpentine trail takes the visitor from the parking lot north along an old railroad bed, a donation by Vectren Energy Delivery of Ohio and Panhandle Pipeline Inc. The trail leads to the east edge of the preserve with access trails to the prairie and the wetlands. An observation deck at the top of a gentle hill provides a panoramic view of the Tawaskote Menitsa Prairie.
