This is one of the sites used by the Lancaster Regiment as a vantage point, when they occupied Vryheid during the Second Boer War.
Enjoy the view, just as Charl did.
The Lancaster Regiment occupied Vryheid during the Second Boer War and fortified Lancaster Hill - Hence the name. A force of 900 soldiers were deployed on the hill and many trenches and gun positions were built. Only one battle took place here on 11 December 1900.
