Well it is a radar facility originally designated as Ground Equipment Facility J-31 or the San Pedro Hill Air Force Station. Operated by the Aerospace Defense Command and Federal Aviation Administration as a joint use facility. Opened in the height of the cold war in 1961. It originally was used as radar for Nike missile batteries in San Pedro (Whites Point) and Malibu (San Vicente Mountain). This radar station was planned for transfer to just the FAA in 1978 but the Air Force did not cut their data-tie until the late 1990’s.
The area has beautiful views of downtown LA, Harbor, and the ocean.. The radar station is the highest point on the Palos Verdes Penisula (San Pedro Hill).
This is a Nano hide. Be careful to hide it just as found. Parking is only available from dawn to dusk.
