Few of you will be able to identify with the images below although your parents might be able to do so. I can remember all of them, some memories are clearer than others.
I had the 10 cent mugs of root beer at R-Tic Root Beer Stand, more commonly know as "Benny's" and also consumed their frozen Milky Way bars. It was open from 1947 to 1978. The original building remains on the corner of 6th street and 1st avenue SW.
King Leo's was one of the first fast food restaurants in Rochester. A Mexican fast food chain store is at that location now on North Broadway (500 block). You could get a burger, fries and drink for under a half dollar. When I was born, there was a house on this lot. It was ours.
The Town House Restaurant stood somewhere by the Post Bulletin but I can't recall exactly where. Great food and a nice family spot.
The Chateau Theater was a magical place and is now a bookstore. When I was in grade school, they sold a book of 8 movie tickets for $2. The movies were shown on Saturday afternoons for 8 weeks running.
What does all this have to do with geocaching? Nothing. Nothing at all. BYOP. Have fun and be safe.
