E.T. 5 Traditional Cache

Part of a 6 cache series along the Hidden Valley Trail or as we call it, The Everdale Trail (hence E.T.) due to the location of the trail head. Each of the 6 caches are along the trail.This goes a little off the trail so be cautious. I really enjoyed placing these caches and was surprised there weren't already caches placed here. Randolph’s trail system runs a 16-mile course traversing five parks, the Clyde Potts Reservoir Watershed and 2,000 acres of pristine open space. The trails link together schools with neighborhoods and connect to Patriots’ Path at Combs Hollow and Old Brookside.

Randolph’s trails should be viewed as a work in progress as we continue to pursue easements and funding to expand our trail network. The township funds 90% of design and construction costs through state grants and developer contributions. To date, over $1.5 million in state grants and developer contributions has been invested in Randolph’s trails.

Open year round, the trails can be used from dawn to dusk and are closed at night. During the winter months, there is no snow or ice removal, providing a wonderful opportunity for cross-country skiers and snowshoe enthusiasts.

Hidden Valley Trail Head
Located on Everdale Road, one-quarter mile south of Millbrook Avenue. Parking is available.

Attention: The following areas in Randolph Township are going to be open to hunting Mon - Sat from Sept. 14 - through the end of January 2014. Sundays the hunting is closed in the green lands and parks. Please use caution and STICK to the trails, people heading off of the trails risk receiving a citation for failure to stick to the trails, especially during the hunting season. The primary reason for the hunting is to reduce the deer population below the almost 2000 deer on 22 sq miles. The disease and lyme disease issues should also decrease as we aim to reduce the herd to a reasonable size over the next few years. You may notice that as you walk through the parks that you can see across the forest understory, since it has been over browsed by the deer, that too can hopefully, be reversed.
