this is the famous "Winema Rock", many people who have camped at Winema camp take walks to here and climb for a great view~ This is my favorite place on earth :)
This cache is a medium size vitamin bottle wrapped in cammo tape. Inside are the log sheets, and some painted rocks. There's also a dollar for first to find ;)
Because this is a large rock right by the ocean, wintertime tides might keep you from being able to access it very well or require more caution. Use your discretion, but I listed it as seasonal to keep people from pursuing it in more dangerous conditions.
from the public beach access parking area at the end of winema road, travel north about a mile. You can see the giant rock from the beginning of your walk :) Climbing the rock takes some concentration and use of your hands, careful placement of your feet, etc... but I didn't rate it as EXTREMELY DANGEROUS or anything because many kids even make this climb without much trouble. I wouldn't recommend for children under 10. (my kids did it without incident, one is 5 and one is 7. But I can't say that everyone of those ages would be able to make the climb and come back down as easily. Use your own discretion) ....ALSO... as recommended by one of the finders of this cache, your canine companions might not be much help with this one ;)
Once you are at the top, head to the far north-west corner of the rock. (obviously use your common sense not to get TOO CLOSE to the edge or make things dangerous...) Feel around in the plants. Be sure to place back where you found it~ many muggles climb this rock, but usually you can hear them coming. Before you leave, make sure you enjoy the view~ Be super careful coming back down, some of the dirt/rock areas can get crumbly and need to sit on your booty. Also, at the bottom of the rock, just to the north side you'll find a really cool large cave to check out. It's just a bonus to make this walk memorable and exciting! ;)
~*~ CONGRATULATIONS "Wyld 1" FIRST TO FIND!!!~*~
NOTE: it's been mentioned a few times that the small/ medium size round stone that was originally placed in front of the cache as a "hint" as to where it is, has been lost. I have checked, it is indeed gone, and I'll remove it from the hint. thanks!
