The cache container is a medium size lock-n-lock with plenty of room for trade items. It is initially stocked with different types of dogs. There is a short bushwhack through high grass from the parking trail to the main trailhead and then a second short bushwhack through blueberry bushes to get to ground zero. The blueberries are ripe for the picking in mid-August. The trail makes a loop and is surrounded on the western edge by marshland.
The cache is located in the Sargent Wildlife Management Area. Richard Sargent donated land to the Fish and Game Department during the late 1960s and early 1970s, which led to the creation of this WMA. The WMA consists of four areas that together total approx. 356 acres. The habitats are mostly upland forest that includes white pine, red oak, red maple and scattered eastern hemlock. Portions of the WMAs include wetland habitats, often dominated by cattails. There is very little open water. Common Wildlife that can be seen are White-tailed deer, snowshoe hare, ruffed grouse, otter, mink and muskrat.
Hunting is allowed in this WMA. For more information about specific hunting season dates, go to the NH Fish and Game website.
