How can there not be a cache here? Every time I pass the parking lot there are a ton of cars.
This cache will start you on your way, if you choose, to hike the Cascade Lake loop or maybe even find the 40 ft waterfall at the back of the lake. This is a nice, historic loop that you can walk and grab 3 additional caches. To hike the loop is 5.5 miles total. At certain times of the year the waterfall will perform for you. An old girls camp called Cascade Lake Camp was once located on the northern shore of the lake. The camp was built in the 1930's and was used until the mid-1940's. Remnants of the old camp can be seen and some locations along the north shore are now used as primitive campsites. The trail is the old road and is a wide path used also by the local horseback riding establishment. When you come to the fork in the trail going to the right seems to be less muddy, during wet times of the year, if you are just going to the waterfall and not completing the entire loop. Turning left at the trail fork will take you along the northern shore, the campsites, some beaches and some nice views of the lake.
