John Goddard of Orono was granted the timber rights in this portion of northern Maine in the 1845. He built this farm to feed his crews. The farm was functional until the Civil War when Goddard and the crew left for the war. None of the men returned following the war.

The farm was preserved for the large white pine on the tract of land. Individuals affiliated with local historical societies maintain the trails and Irving has donated some signs. White pine of this size is not commonly seen in this portion of Maine and is a sight to see.
The road to the cache is pretty good but I was glad we were in our pickup truck. Just before the final turn, beaver have been active and have they have tried to dam the road a bit. We had no trouble passing today. It might be possible to reach the road to the farm from the other side but I have not explored that yet. Check the waypoints for the final two turns on the route we took.
