Riverview (now Fisherman's Wharf) was once a popular place for both the tourists and locals to enjoy the lake in a different fashion. There was a sand beach, concessions, and plenty of teenagers out on a sunny summer's day. As the sun set beyond the old 7 south bridge on Lake Hamilton in the late 1950's, the high school band director and his family put on a ski show. Many spectators lined the wooden benches placed in rows along the water's edge to watch the performances in this rather new sport. There were tricks, pyramids, water ballets, and jumps. Several of the teenagers in town were part of the group. They would park cars, sell tickets, and then run put on their latex swim suits to entertain the onlookers.
The area changed names several times over the years, but Riverview was how I first knew it. This is a photo from the 1950s of the old bridge. You can now see portions of this bridge in a yard across from Jose's Mexican Restaurant further south.
