Dinosaur Park is a popular tourist attraction, and one of the many beautiful city parks in the Rapid City area. Dedicated on May 22, 1936, it contains seven dinosaur sculptures on a hill overlooking the city. Constructed by the city of Rapid City and the Works Progress Administration, WPA Project #960's dinosaurs were designed by Emmet Sullivan. Sullivan also designed the Apatosaurus (formerly Brontosaurus) at Wall Drug. The park was listed on the National Register of Historic Places on June 21, 1990.
Dinosaurs represented in the park include Apatosaurus, Tyrannosaurus rex, Triceratops, Stegosaurus, and an Anatotitan (formerly Trachodon). A Protoceratops and a Dimetrodon (Dimetrodon is not actually a dinosaur) were added later on and are located near the parking lot. With the exception of the Protoceratops, the dinosaurs they selected were based on fossils found in South Dakota and the Western United States. --(source: Wikipedia)
The cache is located not far from these statues. There is a short walking path that will lead you almost to the cache. You are looking for a small camo'd bison tube just hanging around nearby. Obviously you will need to bring your own pencil or pen, there isn't any room for such objects in this cache. This park is open from 6:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. Please do not look for this cache outside of these hours.
As will all our caches, be responsible, practice stealth if warranted, and have fun.
