Recently, I had a conversation with a caching friend who lives in Jonesborough. This friend lamented the fact that there were not enough caches in the Jonesborough area, especially for someone trying to meet the 31 Days of Geocaching goal.
Today, I found myself making an unexpected trip to Jonesborough and decided to hide a cache while I was there. It was quite an adventure for something that should have been a quick PnH.
First, I pulled into a likely spot and checked to see if I had clearance. Drat. About 20 feet too close to another cache. Moved to another location, and checked for clearance. YES! Set my Garmin at GZ and began averaging waypoints while I prepared a container. Found a nice lock-n-lock in the back of the car and proceeded to fill it with swag, a log sheet and disclaimer sheet. I acted all nonchalant while waiting for a couple of muggles to clear the area then lifted the skirt to place the cache. This action resulted in a swarm of wasps that chased me back to my car where I stood looking mournfully at my Garmin that was still at GZ and wondering how I would rescue it without getting stung. The wasps finally settled down enough for me to make the grab and jump in my car, heading off in search of location number three.
Once there, I FIRST nervously checked GZ for any stinging insect infestations, and then shot new coordinates. Then I realized that the nice container I had prepared would not fit in this particular location. I stuffed as much as I could into a pill bottle, and called it a day.
So, sorry for another lame LPC, but I tried! And, at least there is another quick PnG in Jonesborough for those still working on the 31 Days challenge.
