It's that time of year again when all the ghosts, goblins, witches and zombies rise from the shadows to instill fear into young and old alike. Boo.
In honor of the occasion (and in hopes "they" don't like getting their feet wet!) lets partake in a paddle parade through Providence! And whatever you do, come in full costume. First, you don't want the zombies to pick you out of the crowd, but more importantly we are having a Costume Contest...with prizes. I also wouldn't rule out a little trick or treat fun and other Halloween shenanigans.
PFDs (personal floations devices, aka life jackets) and lights are required for this event. Ensure you have a white light for the front deck of your boat. We will be paddling after the sun sets. Despite the nature of the event, we do want to be visible to any other boaters on the river.
This event is water-based. We will gather in the middle of the Woonasquatucket River Waterplace Park basin, at 4:30pm, trading geocoins, trackables, ghost stories and doing a little trick or treating. From here we will continue our paddle/parade through the city, soliciting the votes of muggles for Best Costume, as the sun sets--in true trick or treat style!
For those who want an extended excursion, we will meet at the parking coordinates at 2 pm for a 2:30pm launch. The plan is to paddle upstream past the event site, explore the river, then paddle downstream and meet everyone for the event.
