The Banksia Ericfolia is a small tree native to Australia, more specifically the east coast of NSW. The tree can grow to a hight of 6 metres, but when exposed to the harsh coastal conditions they tend to remain smaller, resembling shrubs rather than trees. Once the flowers have reached maturity they begin to decay, exposing a tough layer of bark which when removed reveals a red velvet type stem.
The cache is located near the boarder of the Arakwal National Park which is dedicated to the Indigenous people of the shire. Here you will witness incredible views of Byron Bay which remain fairly unseen by tourists. The cache contains a log and pencil, and several small items for trade. please note that you will not need to leave the path when finding this cache.
