This geocache has been hidden in Buryfield, a small nature garden created from a former old garage site between two roads off St. Albans Road in North Watford. The garden covers about 1000 square metres and runs between Salisbury Road and Hatfield Road.
It has been transformed beyond recognition between 2008 and 2009 after months of hard work by volunteers, who helped clear the site of rubbish and created a variety of wildlife habitats including a pond, butterfly garden and wildflower meadow. Bird and bat boxes have also been installed in the mature trees already on the site.
Local residents also helped to plant native trees such as hawthorn and holly to create a hedge all around the site and a woodland copse. Over 30 species of wild flowers and grasses have been sown in the garden and the newly filled pond will be planted up with native aquatic plants in late spring.
The garden is open for visitors during the day and locked each night. Entry is from Hatfield Road and the site is fully wheelchair and buggy accessible.
The geocache is a transparent box.
