Geocache Description:

This cache was placed by my son and I and also my sister came with us for the hike.  Be very careful climbing up to the cache site especially if you have young kids with you.  There are some steep spots.

I looked in a Goulais River history book and I believe that this small mountain is called Slate Mountain.  I may be wrong but this is what I could understand from the book, which is called "Valley of Trees and Water; Recollections of Goulais River".  The building at the base of the mountain used to be an old schoolhouse.  According to the book it was built between 1910 and 1913.  When it opened in 1913, the average attendance was 19 students.  It had lots of blackboard space, running water and modern equipment.

The cache site overlooks this old schoolhouse and is camouflaged pretty well.   The container is a camo'ed fruit container and had some various trade items in it which include 2 superballs, some rocks, a fire starter (I had to break it in half to fit it in), a pig chip clip, screwdriver, ship sticker, 2 key chains, Ontario pins and a mummy eraser.
